 Kuno in Sheopur district in Madhya Pradesh was declared a national park in 1981 and an area of 344sq km was set aside for a wildlife sanctuary. Kuno national park is also called the Palpur-Kuno wildlife sanctuary. It is one of the few places that is home to the Asiatic lion, as they were transferred from Gir of Gujarat. Altogether today it is an area of 900sq km as it has been expanded over the years. Other animals include the monkey, nilgai, Indian wolf and Indian leopard.
