Ovarian Cysts - Surgical Removal
Many women with ovarian cysts, do not even know that they have them. Most cysts are benign and they occur as part of a normal body function. But some do have symptoms and need to choose with suggestions from their doctor a treatment. Then a small percentage of those will require surgical removal. If the cysts have a diameter larger than 5 cms then this usually means removal is required. Diagnosis and surgical operation The first thing that happens of course with your doctor before any treatment is a thorough examination, and possibly the ordering of certain tests. They will also review your medical history, look at the medications you are currently on and look at the results of those tests including blood and urine tests, a CT scan and x-rays. If it is deemed that your cyst is larger than 5cms, or it is an irregular shape or causing a great deal of pain then surgical removal may be suggested.
