Keep your Tri Training Plan Manageable
When you take the time to get your plans for training right for your goals, your training should be easier, more effective and something you can manage. That is why many athletes choose to use a cycle coach to help them. They have the skill, knowledge and experience that they can adjust to suit whatever their clients need. Here are some tips on keeping the plan something you can manage so you can improve your performance.
Create a workout you can manage with your routine
Plan your training and workout so that it is something that fits into your routine. There is no point in having an overly full and hard tri training plan, that you do not even have the time to complete. The best plan should run for 8 to 12 weeks. It is possible to have one for 4 weeks but you would need to have a background of training, athletics and fitness already. 12 weeks is ideal as it gives you time to up the miles over time and has rest days. These are important for recovery.
It is always best to follow a plan that does not keep getting interrupted with other commitments. So think about doing this at a time where you do not have excessive work commitments, family outings and so on. Keep it manageable.
Use a cycle coach
A cycle coach is a great idea because they should have experience, knowledge, and hopefully training in the area and know how to work with you to give you a plan that works.
For the first few weeks have a day 'off' in between
It is a good idea, especially if you are not as fit as you would like, to have a light day in between the heavier days. One day could be more intense, the next light cardio work only for example.
At the end of the plan, put in consecutive workouts
Once you are at or close to your goal in terms of mileage or time for each of the three sports, you should plan and doing about 4 weeks of consecutive workouts. This is where in your tri training plan you allow yourself only a small amount of time for rest. This gets your body ready for the intense and difficult time of a real triathlon.
