Carpet Cleaning Tips for Stains
Most homes today have carpet throughout the house except for the kitchen and bathroom. It can be expensive to have professional carpet cleaning Toronto done so here are some tips to help you keep your carpet clean. You should make sure that you are vacuuming at least once a week, more often if possible. No matter how careful you are, stains can happen. When a stain happens, you should spot clean it before it becomes permanent. It is recommended that with stains you use a clean white cloth. It should be one that is not dyed or have any patterns because they could make things worse by spreading the stain. You can also use plain paper towels.
Before you use any cleaner on your carpet for stains know which one is right to use to clean the stain. There are a lot of stain cleaners that say “all-purpose” and it is okay to use them but is best if you have a stain cleaner that works on particular stains. Learn to read the labels carefully. If possible, test it on a small part of the carpet that can be hidden to see what it does for your carpet. One example of a stain is pet urine or bloodstains. When the blood stain is fresh, you can use cold water or add in some hydrogen peroxide and dab at the stain. Make sure that you do not scrub it because that can just cause it to spread.
If the bloodstain is dried, use hydrogen peroxide and then a detergent that is enzyme based. With pet urine, use an enzyme-based cleaner made especially to clean pet urine. If you do not this type of product you can dab on ammonia if you have it. Finish cleaning it with a detergent that has been mixed with warm water.
No matter what type of stain you have or what you use to clean it, make sure that you are using as little of the product that you can because this reduces the time your carpet needs to dry. After cleaning the stain and you do not make sure that the area is dry your carpet could start to grow mold. If you want, you can use a hairdryer or fan to speed the drying process. This will also work on rug cleaning Toronto.
Stains
- Chocolate—scrape off what you can using butter or putty knife. Once that is done, apply using a sponge, a mixture of four parts water, and one part soap. Rinse with lukewarm water
- Greasy or fatty foods—scrape off with a knife and layer paper towels on top. Turn iron to the lowest heat and iron the paper towels. This will lift off the grease. The next step is to use a mixture of soap, white vinegar, and lukewarm water to blot the stain. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with water.
- Other foods like coffee and wine—blot and rinse with club soda and if you need, you can brush it with soapy water, and then rinse.
