Can I Find a Running Coach During the Pandemic

I know, you are sick to death of hearing about this pandemic. Believe me when I say that I will celebrate the day I no longer have to write about it or say the word pandemic aside from brief allusions to recent history again. Unfortunately, due to the incompetence of our global civilization, and the lack of willingness of many people to do things like practice social distancing, wear masks and get vaccinated, here we sit still not over this ridiculous thing. Truth be told, we will probably still be in some informal lockdown for quite some time, and while it is inconvenient in some ways, it’s probably justified.

Many things have shifted somewhat easily from traditional methodologies in wake of this lockdown, with people telecommuting for work and education, shopping online even for basic things and switching to the Internet for social engagement as much as possible. Common sense would tell you that something like athletics couldn’t do this due to the physical nature of it, but you would be wrong. Before the advent of modern smart phones, smart watches and an app for literally everything you can imagine, that would’ve been a problem, but the physical proximity thing is entirely a social construct, something that many recent generations were drifting away from anyhow. In the future, people will probably be more likely to do as much of their stuff online at a distance, preferring that over physical contact or physical contact isn’t the ultimate goal.

I confess, being a somewhat introverted person, I haven’t felt the effects of this aside from having to write about it constant, but I get it. But when it comes to how to find a running coach, all you need is a running club app, and some teammates and a coach that are willing to work with this new methodology. How does it work? Rather simply, actually. All you need is a smart watch with basic biometric capabilities, a smart phone and an app designed for running clubs. These biometric smart watches record runs in fitness data, and many of them can even orchestrate virtual runs while also providing the running coach with much more granular, precise fitness data on their athletes.

Such a running club app should be compatible with both iOS and android, I must emphasize. People using one platform will be very unwilling to switch to another not only because it’s expensive to buy a new phone, but because people who like android can’t stand iOS and vice versa. As silly as it sounds, it seems like these 2 similar yet also very different approaches to phone interfaces are the 2 that are very compatible with different people, and different people are compatible with one or the other, rarely both.

In closing, there are various benefits to looking online to find a running coach and using a running club app rather than the old way. People no longer have to fight their schedules to work out together, people can pick their favorite venues for their runs and there is, as I said, a lot more precision to the data the smart watch is provide, even the cheap junky ones!
