Some are more well-known than others but all offer stunning views, photo opportunities and a time to connect with and experience the natural world. Darjeeling hill station
Found in the Himalayas it is then in the northeast of the country, coming from the area where the famous Darjeeling tea comes from. It is a quaint place to visit and is also popular for tourists due to the Himalayan rail network.
Mussoorie hill station
A very attractive hill station found in Uttarakhand is often found surrounded by mountain mist. You can look down at the sprawling Doon valley below and enjoy the snow-capped mountain peaks around you. The best time of the year to visit is May to July but it is also its busiest.
Shimla hill station
Found in Himachal Pradesh this hill station is in the mountains and surrounded by lush forest. Also called queen of the hills it has not just scenic beauty to enjoy but also historical structures to look at.
Vanjangi hill station
Found in Andhra Pradesh in the Eastern Ghats it is a less visited hill station but becoming growingly popular for its stunning sunrise as the light hits the clouds. For that reason, Vanjangi hill station is being called Ocean of Clouds or Megha Samudram. Great for trekkers and people who love nature too.
Ooty hill station
Such a charming place to visit during the summer as you can actually get away from the heat. There are other things to do here in Ooty including botanical gardens to visit and an abundance of nature.
Kodaikanal hill station
Found to the northwest of Madurai on the southern peak of Palani hillock. Beautiful waterfalls, wooden slopes, rocky outcrops, and home to flowers that only blossom once every 12 years, called Neelkurinji. A very popular place couples go to for some romance.
Srinagar hill station
Called the venice of the east it is a stunning place to visit with the Dal Lake as its backdrop. As well as being lovely to look at and full of natural beauty it is also a place where people who love adventure sports visit. Enjoy the colourful Shikara boats in the evening, go for a ride yourself and explore the Mughal gardens with their bountiful flowerbeds and lovely fountains.
